Restaurant Kee V

Overview:
Restaurant Kee V is well-known for its 'hot soup' and claypot dishes which are perfect on a chilly rainy day. There are currently 3 branches located around Kajang area and the dishes are very, very, reasonably priced.

When someone asks me what is there to eat in Kajang, I always tell them "Kajang satay lah, what else.". After eating at Restaurant Kee V from a friend's recommendation and doing a little bit of research myself, I realised that Kajang is not only a 'satay haven' but is also popular for its 'hot soup' which is one of the speciality dishes at Restaurant Kee V.

After a tiring day at Outbac Broga, a few friends and myself headed over to Restaurant Kee V, based on recommendation from friends staying nearby, to fill our rumbling tummies. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and the kitchen staff were hustling to and fro the kitchen to the tables. As we sat, our noses were stung with whiffs of dried chili coming from the kitchen. (Advise: try not to sit too near the kitchen).

Hot Soup
RM33 for 3 portion (RM11/portion)

Of course, our must-order would be the famous 'hot soup', which is a popular Chinese soup with the main ingredients being ginger, pepper and pork resulting in a hot and spicy concoction, sure to warm your tummy. I love this soup so much I'm considering going back there again just to satisfy my craving.

Salted Fish with Meat
RM22 for 2 portions (RM11/portion)

Besides the hot soup, Restaurant Kee V also specializes in sizzling claypot dishes ranging from squids, chicken, fish and pork. The claypot dishes were mouth-watering too. Add a little garlic and dark soy sauce with every mouth for extra flavours, my personal favourite.

Chicken with Wine
RM22 for 2 portions (RM11/portion)

Felt like the chicken with wine could use more wine for better flavouring.

Spicy Squid
RM25 (RM12.50/portion)

The spicy squid was amazing. Squids were fresh but a little small in size. But this dish packs a punch of spiciness due to the generosity of dried chillies as you can see from the picture below.

Pork Trotters in Sweet Vinegar
RM12 (RM12/portion)

Last but not least, we also tried the pork trotters infused in sweet vinegar. This is a Cantonese dish which is traditionally made for mothers after child birth, but is still normally practised to this day. I find this dish lacking in ginger and it could use a little more vinegar for a stronger taste. Of course, don't expect much meat from this dish, as it's cooked using pork trotters, mainly consisting of bones and fats.

For 15 of us, the total bill came up to RM282, which is less than RM20 per person! Definitely a worthy meal! Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a little food-venture around Kajang.
